Connect Your Account

Although I could setup a form and ask you a bunch of questions you have already answered before, I believe the way of the future will be linking web pages to existing social networking sites. I went with the obvious and chose Facebook, since it is the hot ticket right now. And so, with a click of the button, you can let me access the data I need to setup an account for you here on the fan site.

But why should I bother? Good question! By proving you are not a robot ( *BOT* ), you will be granted access to a multitude of features that are not available to the schmuck without a facebook account! For example, you are just a few clicks away from being able to leave comments, rate videos, suggest press links, tag photos, and many other features which haven't been added yet! And because you will be sharing your email address ( a requirement I would enforce even if I wasn't going the facebook route ), you will soon be able to "opt in" to be notified when there are changes to the episode guide, new events or even comments posted by other site memebers. Neat stuff!

But what information will I be sharing, George? Let me tell you. By allowing my GBDC Facebook application to access your info, I will learn your name, email address, home town, current town, personal websites, your "about me" section, and have access to your profile photo. In other words, nothing I couldn't already find by Binging or Googling you ( heh ). If you are former cast or crew, this info will be automagically shoved into your cast biography, giving you previously unheard of bragging rights and the respect of your peers. This info will also appear next to your name when you post comments to the site, in a fashion similar to facebook, youtube, and any other site out there that lets you say what you think. So much for anonymity, eh?

"But what do you do with all my precious facebook information?" I hear you asking. The answer is not much! Apart from using it as I discussed, nobody will ever see it. I am a non-profit operation and have no plans on trying to make a few bucks by selling your personal data to that spam dealer in Guatamala. You know the guy. So relax, and enjoy the convenience of one button registration!
